1. Pumpkin Smoothie
¼ cup plus 2 tablespoons old-fashioned oats
¼ cup canned pumpkin puree
¾ cup plain Greek yogurt
1 medium apple- cut into pieces (I used honey crisp and left the skin on)
½ small banana (sliced and frozen)
½ cup milk (almond, soy, dairy, etc. – whatever you prefer)
1/8 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
½ cup ice cubes
Place oats in a blender and blend for about 30 seconds until finely chopped. Add remaining ingredients and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.
2. Oatmeal Cookie Smoothie
For 2 12-ounce smoothies
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tablespoons agave nectar
2 tablespoons flax meal
1/3 cup oats
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon chia seeds
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 frozen banana, peeled and chopped
1 1/2 cups vanilla almond milk
Pop the ingredients in a blender, and go from mix to liquify in steps. Let it blend on liquify (or the highest setting) for 30 seconds. The trick to this smoothie is REALLY blending it. Taste and add more almond/coconut milk if you like a thinner consistency.
3. Vitamin C Booster Cranberry Orange Smoothie
4 oranges, about 1 1/2 pounds peeled and halved
1 cup frozen cranberries
1 – 16 ounce bottle ginger kombucha, or 1–2 cups orange juice
1 Teaspoon vanilla extract
Place all the ingredients in the order listed into the blender.
Blend, increasing the speed to high and blend until mostly smooth.
Enjoy right away or refrigerate up to one day.
4. Winter Berry Smoothie
1 c. mixed berries, frozen
In a blender, combine the frozen berries and apple cider. Process until smooth, adding extra juice if it seems a little too thick. Add honey or agave syrup to sweeten if necessary.
5. Fall Greens Smoothie
2 cups Cashew Almond Milk (below)
2 cups packed kale leaves
1 cup frozen pear chunks
1 cup frozen table grapes
1 small banana (4 ounces in the peel)
cashew almond milk
1 cup whole "raw" cashews
1 cup whole raw almonds
water, as needed (preferably filtered)
Combine all ingredients in a blender in the order listed. Blend until very smooth, around 3 minutes, beginning on low and slowly increasing the speed to high. Serve immediately.
